Vera Jimenez is KTLA weather and traffic reporter for KTLA 5 News at 6pm and KTLA 5 News at Ten. Vera was born in Mexico and moved to Southern California when she was three. Most of her family still lives in Garden Grove, where she went to Bolsa Grande High School.She later attended Cal State Long Beach where she graduated with honors earning a degree in religious studies.
It was during her time at SACC that she got her start in broadcasting. She interned at KIKFM in Orange, then got a job producing traffic for Shadow Broadcasting. She landed a fill-in job doing traffic overnights at KFWB 980 AM. The best learning experience in traffic was while at KNX 1070 AM, where she was an airborne traffic reporter.
Vera eventually got a chance to work on television, first for KABC and then for KCBS here in Los Angeles. While at KCBS, Vera went back to school to study meteorology from Mississippi State, earning her certificate in August of 2009. Vera has earned two Emmys, three Golden Mikes, and three Golden Pylons.
